PROJECT

Vung Ang Coal Power

The Vung Ang 2 coal-fired power plant in Vietnam is a coal-fired power generation project underway in Ha Tinh Province, Vietnam. The project attracted public attention when the then- Minister of Environment in Japan criticized the issue of exporting coal-fired power plants from Japan by naming this project. As the climate crisis accelerates and the world moves toward the 1.5°C target of the Paris Agreement, Japan’s public financial institutions have decided to finance the project at the end of 2020.
